The Nigerian Bar Association has honoured social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, with a recognition award at its ongoing 2026 Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Otse received the award on Tuesday after participating as a panellist at the conference, where he shared his experiences and perspectives on insecurity and other issues affecting the country.
The recognition comes as the NBA holds its 66th Annual General Conference from Aug. 21 to Aug. 28 in Port Harcourt, with the theme “Beyond Limits: Redefining the Practice of Law in Nigeria.”
VeryDarkMan, who has built a large following through his commentary on social and political issues, has frequently used his social media platforms to campaign on matters relating to governance, insecurity and accountability.
His participation at the conference provided an opportunity for him to discuss some of these issues before members of the legal profession and other delegates.
The NBA’s decision to recognise the social media personality has generated attention, particularly because of his unconventional approach to public advocacy and his growing influence among young Nigerians.
The annual conference has attracted lawyers, judges, policymakers and other stakeholders for discussions on legal practice, justice delivery and national development.
