The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has sealed several shops at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex over suspected sales of unregistered cosmetic products.

The enforcement operation, which lasted two days, targeted shops suspected of dealing in cosmetics that had not been registered with the agency.

NAFDAC officials took samples of the suspected products for further investigation and regulatory action.

The agency also invited operators of the affected businesses to appear before its regulatory authorities to provide explanations concerning the products.

The operation forms part of NAFDAC’s ongoing efforts to prevent the circulation of unregistered and potentially unsafe cosmetics in the Nigerian market.

The agency has repeatedly warned traders and consumers against dealing in cosmetic products that have not undergone its registration and safety assessment processes.

NAFDAC said enforcement activities would continue to protect consumers and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
