Morocco Could Have Beaten Brazil 3–1 With Osimhen, Lookman-Type Players — Oliseh

Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has claimed that Morocco could have defeated Brazil 3–1 if they had attackers of the calibre of Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen or Ademola Lookman in their squad.

Oliseh made the remark on Sunday via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account while analysing Morocco’s 1–1 draw with Brazil in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Group C encounter played on Saturday.

The former international praised Morocco’s tactical discipline and balance, describing their performance against the five-time world champions as impressive in both attack and defence.

“Impressive performance by this Moroccan side, defensively and offensively well structured,” Oliseh wrote. “Had this team had ‘Victor Osimhen or Ademola Lookman’ like players versus Brazil, they could have won by 3 goals to 1 at worst.”

He argued that Morocco’s overall structure and organisation were strong enough to trouble Brazil, but that the absence of elite finishing power prevented them from converting dominance into a more decisive victory.

Oliseh also suggested that Brazil were fortunate to escape with a draw, crediting their attacking stars for helping them remain competitive throughout the match.

“Brazil looking deceptive and thank God they had Vinicius Jr and Raphinha,” he added. “I loved the belief and evolution from the Moroccans.”

The match, played at the MetLife Stadium outside New York City, saw Morocco take a surprise lead before Brazil equalised through a moment of brilliance from Vinicius Junior. Both sides created chances in a tightly contested encounter, but neither was able to secure all three points.

Morocco, ranked among the strongest African sides at the tournament, earned a valuable point against the South American giants, further strengthening their reputation as one of the competition’s most tactically disciplined teams.

Brazil, meanwhile, continue to face criticism over their attacking efficiency despite their star-studded lineup, as analysts debate whether the team can realistically challenge for a sixth World Cup title.
