Miss Austria Lucia Sisic Dies At 22

Reigning Miss Austria Lucia Sisic has died at the age of 22, according to Mission Austria, the organisation behind the country’s Miss and Mister Austria competitions.

Mission Austria announced Sisic’s death in a statement, describing her as a wonderful young woman and expressing condolences to her family, friends and loved ones.

Sisic was crowned Miss Austria in 2024 and remained the titleholder because no subsequent national pageant had been held.

Born in Vienna, Sisic had spoken publicly about living with a congenital heart valve defect from birth. She underwent several heart operations throughout her life, including a seventh procedure in late 2025.

Despite her health challenges, Sisic maintained a public presence and expressed gratitude to the medical specialists who treated her.

The exact cause of her death has not been officially disclosed by Mission Austria or her family. Reports have noted her long-standing heart condition, but there has been no official confirmation that it was directly responsible for her death.

Christopher Dengg, who was crowned Mister Austria alongside Sisic in 2024, described her as being like a sister to him and expressed shock at her death.

Tributes have since been paid to Sisic by members of the Austrian pageant community and others who knew her, with Mission Austria saying she would remain part of the organisation’s history.
