Mbappé Wins Onze d’Or Award for 2025/26 Season

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has won the Onze d’Or award for the best player of the 2025/26 season after emerging as the top choice in a poll conducted by French football magazine Onze Mondial.

The Spanish club announced the achievement on Monday, October 19, confirming that the France captain received 48.2 per cent of the votes to claim the honour for the first time in his career.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder João Neves finished second with 11.9 per cent, while teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came third with 10.8 per cent.

According to Real Madrid, Mbappé’s performances during the season helped him secure the recognition, with the forward finishing as the leading goalscorer in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

He also won the Golden Boot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he scored 10 goals and set a new record for the highest number of goals scored in the tournament’s history.

The award adds to Mbappé’s growing collection of individual honours and comes ahead of the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony scheduled for October 26 in London.

The Onze d’Or is an annual award presented by Onze Mondial and determined through votes from the magazine’s readers. It recognises the player considered to have delivered the best performances during the season.

Mbappé succeeds fellow Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé, who won the award in 2025, while Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior received the honour in 2024.

Although the award is separate from the Ballon d’Or, Mbappé’s victory has added to discussions surrounding the race for football’s most prestigious individual prize.

The Ballon d’Or is organised by France Football and follows a separate voting process, meaning the Onze d’Or result does not determine the outcome of the upcoming ceremony.

Mbappé’s latest recognition further highlights his standing among the leading players in world football as he continues his career with Real Madrid and the French national team.
