“Mass Defections Coming” — Edo Aspirant Predicts Major Shift to NDC Before 2027
An aspirant for the House of Representatives in Edo State has predicted a major wave of defections to the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, claiming that many politicians and supporters are becoming dissatisfied with existing political structures.
The aspirant stated that the NDC is gaining momentum across several states due to growing public interest in what he described as a fresh political direction focused on national unity, development, and inclusive governance.
According to him, political realignments already taking place within major parties are signs that many politicians are preparing to join alternative platforms ahead of the next election cycle. He added that the NDC is attracting youths, professionals, and grassroots supporters seeking change in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The aspirant also expressed confidence that the NDC could emerge as a strong political force in Edo State and across the country if the party continues its mobilization and coalition-building efforts.
Political observers say discussions around defections and coalition politics have intensified as parties position themselves for the 2027 elections. Analysts note that Edo State is expected to remain politically active due to its strategic importance and history of competitive elections.
The comments come amid increasing speculation over possible alliances and defections involving prominent politicians from the APC, PDP, ADC, and other opposition groups ahead of the next election cycle.
