Malami Inaugurates 600-Member Kebbi ADC Campaign Council

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has inaugurated a 600-member campaign council of the African Democratic Congress in Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Malami, who is the ADC governorship candidate in the state, inaugurated the council on Wednesday and urged members to promote unity, reconciliation and issue-based politics throughout the campaign.

He charged the council members to build a strong grassroots structure capable of mobilising support across Kebbi State’s 21 local government areas.

According to Malami, the inauguration was more than the appointment of campaign officials, describing it as the beginning of a coordinated effort to take the party’s message to communities, wards and polling units.

He said the council was deliberately constituted to reflect the diversity of Kebbi, with members drawn from different communities, local government areas and senatorial districts.

“This campaign council represents our collective ADC campaign. It is not about one candidate or one elective position,” Malami said.

He urged candidates contesting the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections to work together as one political family.

Malami also acknowledged the party’s senatorial candidates, including retired General Aminu Bande for Kebbi Central, Garba Maidoki for Kebbi South and Chiroman Kabi, Alhaji Mera, for Kebbi North.

The former minister cautioned party members against tribalism, sectionalism and personal rivalry, warning that internal divisions could undermine the party’s political objectives.

He called for reconciliation whenever disagreements or grievances arise among members.

“Where there are disagreements, let us reconcile. Where there are grievances, let us listen. Where there is suspicion, let us rebuild trust,” he said.

Malami introduced the campaign theme, “One ADC, One Campaign,” urging supporters to place the collective interest of the party above individual ambitions.

He also warned members against inflammatory rhetoric, hate speech, ethnic insults and personal attacks on political opponents.

According to him, political competition should not destroy relationships among communities because political rivals would continue to live together after the elections.

The ADC candidate described the campaign council appointments as a call to service rather than a reward.

He tasked the more than 600 members with mobilising supporters, reconciling aggrieved party members and communicating the party’s programmes to voters at the grassroots.

Malami urged members to return to their communities as ambassadors and bridge-builders, stressing that the success of the campaign would depend on teamwork, discipline and effective grassroots engagement.

The inauguration comes as political parties intensify preparations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Malami said the development marked a new phase of mobilisation for the ADC in Kebbi, urging members to remain focused on the party’s message and the interests of the people.

He concluded by calling on members to choose unity over division, cooperation over rivalry and service over personal interest as they work towards the 2027 elections.
