MACBAN Denies Endorsing Taraba APGA Governorship Candidate

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has denied endorsing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Taraba State, Mr Danjuma Usman Shiddi, for the 2027 election.

The association said it had not authorised any endorsement of Shiddi and described reports suggesting that it had adopted the candidate as its preferred choice as misleading.

The clarification followed reports that the Taraba State chapter of MACBAN had endorsed Shiddi, popularly known as Danji SS, ahead of the governorship election.

The reports quoted representatives of the association as expressing support for the APGA candidate and citing his alleged commitment to the welfare, security and development of residents.

However, MACBAN said the position reported did not represent an official decision of the association.

The development comes as political parties and candidates intensify mobilisation across Taraba ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Shiddi, a former federal lawmaker, is the APGA candidate in the contest, which includes several other candidates seeking to succeed Governor Agbu Kefas.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has displayed the particulars of candidates for the election, with 19 names listed for the governorship contest.

MACBAN's clarification underscores the distinction between individual expressions of support and formally authorised positions of an organisation as political activities ahead of the election continue across the state.
