LemFi Appoints Dr Haydar Daudu as Head of Regulatory Affairs and Policy, West Africa

Financial technology company LemFi has appointed Dr Haydar Daudu as its Head of Regulatory Affairs and Policy for West Africa.

The appointment is part of the company’s efforts to deepen regulatory engagement and strengthen policy development as it expands its financial services across the region.

Daudu brings extensive experience in financial regulation, public policy and institutional development to the new role. He is expected to lead LemFi’s engagement with regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders across West Africa.

His responsibilities will include supporting the company’s regulatory strategy, monitoring policy developments and helping ensure that its operations remain aligned with evolving regulatory requirements in the markets where it operates.

The appointment comes as LemFi continues to expand beyond its traditional remittance business into a broader financial services platform serving people who live and work across borders.

The company currently provides services including international money transfers, multi-currency accounts and other financial products to customers across more than 30 countries.

LemFi has also been expanding its regulatory and operational infrastructure as it scales its business. The company recently committed £100 million to global infrastructure and designated London as its global headquarters, while maintaining operations across key African markets.

Daudu’s appointment is expected to support the company’s relationships with regulatory authorities and contribute to its policy engagement as financial technology regulation continues to evolve across Africa.

The role will also involve identifying regulatory developments that could affect LemFi’s operations and helping the company navigate the requirements governing digital financial services, cross-border payments and related activities.

LemFi has built its business around providing financial services to immigrants and globally mobile customers, with Africa remaining an important part of its operating footprint.

The company says it serves more than two million customers globally and facilitates payments across multiple international corridors.

With the appointment, LemFi is expected to further strengthen its regulatory affairs function in West Africa while supporting its broader expansion strategy.

Daudu’s role will place him at the intersection of regulation, policy and financial technology as governments across the region develop frameworks for digital payments, fintech innovation and consumer protection.
