Late Actor Diewait Ikpechukwu’s Daughter Appeals to AGN Over Burial Poster
Chiamaka Yusuf, daughter of late Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu, has asked the Actors Guild of Nigeria to remove a burial poster announcing her father’s death, insisting that she wants to make the announcement herself.
Chiamaka Yusuf, daughter of veteran Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu, has appealed to the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and members of the public to respect her privacy following her father’s death.
In an emotional video shared on Instagram on Friday, Chiamaka, popularly known as Chiamax, urged the guild to take down a poster announcing her father’s death, saying she wanted to be the person to inform the public.
She also asked people to stop calling her and allow her to grieve privately, expressing distress over the circulation of information about her father without her consent.
Appearing tearful in the video, she said she was still wearing the shirt her father had worn the day before his death.
She pleaded with the guild not to publish any further announcement or poster concerning the actor, insisting that the family should be allowed to handle the communication surrounding his passing.
“If anybody should announce his passing, it would be me. Nobody would do that for me, please,” she said.
The actor reportedly died on Thursday, November 5, at the age of 71, following a prolonged illness.
The AGN had earlier announced his death through a tribute shared by its National President, Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu, on Instagram.
The development has drawn attention to the family's request for privacy as it comes to terms with the loss of the veteran actor.
