Lady Gaga Welcomes First Child with Fiancé Michael Polansky
Lady Gaga and fiancé Michael Polansky have reportedly welcomed their first child together, according to multiple entertainment outlets, after the singer was spotted carrying a newborn in a sling in Northern California.
Lady Gaga and her fiancé, tech entrepreneur Michael Polansky, have welcomed their first child together, according to multiple entertainment outlets, in a development the couple themselves had not disclosed ahead of the news breaking.
The Grammy- and Oscar-winning singer, born Stefani Germanotta, was spotted out in Northern California with a baby in tow, with photos obtained by Page Six showing her wearing the newborn in a sling. Details including the baby's gender and exact birth date have not been made public, and representatives for Gaga had not issued a formal confirmation at the time multiple outlets, including People, Billboard, and The Hollywood Reporter, first reported the news, citing sources close to the couple.
Gaga and Polansky have been romantically linked since early 2020, when the singer made their relationship Instagram-official that February. The pair kept much of their relationship notably private in the years that followed, even as their bond deepened both personally and professionally. Polansky, who serves as chief executive of the Parker Group and sits on the board of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, has also collaborated with Gaga creatively, receiving a writing credit on her 2025 Grammy-winning album "Mayhem" and on her song "Glamorous Life" from the "Devil Wears Prada 2" soundtrack, in which Gaga also made a cameo appearance.
The couple got engaged in April 2024, a proposal Gaga later described in detail during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. She recounted that the two had gone on a rock-climbing trip, during which Polansky, in a moment she described as characteristically thoughtful, asked whether he could ask her to marry him before actually proposing. She publicly confirmed him as her fiancé for the first time later that year, introducing him to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she had performed at the opening ceremony.
Gaga has spoken candidly and repeatedly over the years about her desire to become a mother. During a 2025 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she said that becoming a mother remained one of her biggest ambitions, describing it as the role she hoped to take on next in her life. "What I really want is to be a mom. That's my next starring role, I hope," she told host Stephen Colbert at the time.
Speaking previously to InStyle, Gaga had similarly expressed excitement about the prospect of motherhood, describing the idea of growing and caring for a child as "incredible." Her relationship with Polansky itself came about through an introduction facilitated by her own mother, Cynthia Germanotta, who reportedly told her after meeting him for the first time, "I think I just met your husband." Gaga later recalled being skeptical at the time, telling Vogue she had responded, "I'm not ready to meet my husband," before eventually coming to see him as, in her words, "the missing piece" in her life.
The couple has not publicly disclosed when or where their wedding will take place, with Gaga telling E! News in March 2025 that she was "desperately trying to keep that so private." She had, however, hinted in a pre-taped message earlier this year that the two were "getting married soon."
With the arrival of their first child, Gaga and Polansky join a number of other public figures who have welcomed babies this year, adding a new chapter to a relationship that has spanned more than half a decade and included a high-profile engagement, a shared body of creative work, and now, parenthood.
