La Liga: Egyptian Teenager Abdelkarim to Extend Barca Deal to 2030

FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim to extend his contract with the Spanish giants until June 30, 2030.

The 18-year-old has rapidly risen through the ranks since joining Barcelona earlier this year and has impressed the club with his performances for the youth side and during pre-season.

Barcelona announced the agreement on Friday, confirming that Abdelkarim will formally sign the new contract on September 15 in the office of club president Joan Laporta.

Abdelkarim initially joined Barcelona from Egyptian giants Al Ahly on loan in February 2026 before the Catalan club exercised its purchase option and signed him permanently in June.

He made an immediate impact with Barcelona’s Juvenil A side, scoring six goals in nine league appearances, including a hat-trick in a 9-0 victory over Montecarlo.

His performances earned him an opportunity with Hansi Flick’s first-team squad during pre-season, where he scored four goals to finish as Barcelona’s leading scorer.

The Egyptian subsequently made his competitive first-team debut on August 31 against Rayo Vallecano, marking another significant step in his rapid development.

Abdelkarim’s emergence has attracted considerable attention in Spain, particularly after Barcelona’s decision to retain him as part of the first-team setup.

The new agreement is also expected to provide greater protection for the club as the young forward continues his development. Reports indicate that his release clause could rise significantly from the €15 million figure included in his previous contract.

The teenager’s progress has also strengthened his profile with the Egyptian national team. He represented Egypt at youth level before earning senior recognition and being included in the country’s 2026 World Cup squad.

Barcelona’s decision to extend his contract reflects the club’s confidence in his potential and its desire to secure the future of one of Egypt’s most promising young attacking players.

The new deal will keep Abdelkarim at the Camp Nou until 2030, giving the forward additional time to establish himself as a regular first-team player under Flick.

His development will now be closely watched as he continues to compete for opportunities in La Liga and other competitions with the Catalan club.
