Joshua Predicts First-Round Knockout Against Fury
Anthony Joshua expects to stop Tyson Fury early as their long-awaited heavyweight showdown approaches in Cardiff.
Anthony Joshua has predicted that his highly anticipated heavyweight clash with Tyson Fury could end with a first-round knockout.
The two-time former world champions are scheduled to meet on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, in an all-British showdown that has been years in the making.
Speaking ahead of the bout, Joshua said he wants to produce a spectacular victory in front of British boxing fans.
When asked what he expects to happen when the two fighters enter the ring, Joshua replied that he expects a knockout and suggested that it could come in the opening round. He also confirmed that an early stoppage is part of his game plan.
The fight is the culmination of years of negotiations and speculation surrounding a potential meeting between the two heavyweight stars. Their first face-off ahead of the contest took place in London, with both fighters maintaining a largely respectful tone.
Joshua acknowledged that Fury is a versatile opponent and a good mover in the ring, but remained confident in his own ability to compete at the highest level.
Fury has also predicted a stoppage victory, saying last week that he intends to knock Joshua out within seven rounds.
The December 11 contest is expected to attract global attention as the two former champions finally settle their long-running rivalry inside the ring.
