Joshua, Fury to Meet in Cardiff on December 11
Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will finally meet in a highly anticipated all-British heavyweight clash at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11.
British heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will meet at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11 in a long-awaited showdown between two of the sport’s biggest names.
The fight will mark the first professional meeting between the two former heavyweight world champions after years of negotiations and speculation over a possible clash.
Fury, 37, stopped Polish heavyweight Mariusz Wach in the seventh round in Thailand in July, while Joshua, 36, recovered from two first-round knockdowns to stop Albania’s Kristian Prenga in the second round in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Joshua’s victory came in his first fight since surviving a car crash in Nigeria that killed his close friends Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.
Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, had previously preferred Wembley Stadium as the venue, but the fighter’s agreement with Saudi organisers required the bout to take place in the United Kingdom. Cardiff subsequently emerged as the venue.
The Principality Stadium, which has a retractable roof, has previously hosted Joshua’s fights against Carlos Takam in 2017 and Joseph Parker in 2018.
The December 11 event will be streamed live globally on Netflix, with the platform confirming the fight as its next major heavyweight boxing event.
Fury and Joshua have never fought professionally, making the Cardiff clash their first meeting in the ring after more than a decade of anticipation surrounding the matchup.
