Jigawa NYSC Coordinator Warns Corps Members Against Cultism
The NYSC Coordinator in Jigawa, Mohammed Baba, has warned corps members against cultism, drug abuse, partisan politics and other activities that could jeopardise their safety during national service.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Jigawa, Mohammed Baba, has warned corps members against cultism, drug abuse, partisan politics and other social vices during their service year.
Baba gave the warning while addressing newly deployed corps members at the Yakubu Gowon NYSC Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse, where he urged them to remain disciplined and security-conscious throughout their service.
He advised the corps members to obey NYSC bye-laws and camp regulations, warning them against unauthorised movements, night journeys and other activities that could expose them to avoidable risks.
The coordinator said security was a collective responsibility and urged the corps members to remain vigilant and conscious of their surroundings.
Baba also encouraged them to embrace the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, saying the training could equip them with skills to become self-reliant and create employment opportunities after their service.
He urged the corps members to demonstrate discipline, patriotism and commitment to community development while respecting the culture and traditions of their host communities.
The coordinator said the NYSC had zero tolerance for cultism, drug abuse and partisan political activities, adding that corps members found culpable would face appropriate sanctions.
He also reassured them of measures put in place to protect corps members throughout their service year, noting that security agencies were collaborating with the NYSC to safeguard them in their places of assignment.
Baba urged the corps members to be good ambassadors of their families and institutions, and to use their service year to make positive contributions to their host communities.
