JAMB Sacks Staff Member for Extorting Candidates
JAMB has terminated the appointment of a staff member for extorting candidates, warning that internal misconduct will attract severe sanctions.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has terminated the appointment of a staff member for extorting unsuspecting candidates.
The Board disclosed this in its release bulletin on Monday, saying the action was part of efforts to strengthen the integrity of Nigeria’s admission and examination processes.
JAMB said its efforts to tackle fraud extended beyond individuals operating outside the organisation, adding that internal misconduct would also attract sanctions.
The Board warned all staff members against conduct capable of undermining its operations or exploiting candidates and members of the public.
It said the termination demonstrated that its zero-tolerance policy on corruption and misconduct applied to all employees, regardless of their position or status.
JAMB added that it would not shield staff members who abused their positions or the trust placed in them by candidates and members of the public.
The Board warned that employees found engaging in conduct capable of compromising its operations would face disciplinary measures in accordance with established rules.
JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a professional, accountable and transparent workforce, stressing that efforts to protect the integrity of the admission and examination system must also address misconduct within the organisation.
