JAMB Restores CAPS, Urges Schools to Speed Up 2026 Admissions
JAMB has restored its Central Admissions Processing System after a temporary disruption and urged tertiary institutions to accelerate the 2026/2027 admission process ahead of approved deadlines.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB has restored its Central Admissions Processing System CAPS following a temporary disruption, urging tertiary institutions to speed up their admission processes.
The board announced on Monday that CAPS was fully operational again and asked institutions to recover lost time and meet the approved deadlines for the 2026/2027 admission exercise.
JAMB also advised candidates who have received admission offers to promptly accept them through the CAPS platform.
According to the board, public universities are expected to conclude their admission exercises by October 31, 2026, while private universities have until November 30.
Other tertiary institutions have until December 31, 2026, to complete their admission processes.
The board further advised candidates who had previously been awaiting their results to upload or verify their credentials following the release of the 2026 National Examinations Council Senior School Certificate Examination NECO SSCE results.
JAMB said the step was necessary to ensure that candidates’ credentials were available for consideration as institutions intensify their admission processes.
The restoration follows a temporary CAPS disruption reported on September 24, when JAMB attributed the problem to technical challenges associated with the platform’s hosting arrangements.
CAPS is JAMB’s central platform for automating the admission process into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. It enables candidates to view admission offers and accept or reject them, while institutions use the system to process admissions.
The board expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the disruption and appreciated candidates, institutions and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding.
JAMB urged all stakeholders to take advantage of the restoration of CAPS and proceed with the admission process within the approved timelines.
