JAMB Gives Candidates Final Chance To Accept, Reject Old Admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2026 to accept or reject them.

The new deadline is Wednesday, September 30, 2026, giving affected candidates an additional month to resolve their admission status. The board had previously fixed Monday, August 31, 2026, as the deadline.

JAMB described the extension as a final opportunity for candidates with pending admission offers to indicate clearly whether they intend to accept or reject the offers.

The directive covers both regular admissions and Central University Innovative Institutions Admissions. Candidates with unresolved offers are strongly advised to take action before the new deadline.

The board warned candidates not to wait until the final day, stressing that failure to respond within the stipulated period would have consequences for the status of their admissions.

Candidates who accept their admission offers will be able to proceed with obtaining and printing their admission letters and other necessary documentation.

JAMB also clarified that candidates who choose to reject a previous admission offer can do so without adversely affecting their 2026 admission prospects.

The extension is intended to give affected candidates sufficient time to make decisions while also helping the board maintain accurate and reliable national admission records.

However, JAMB stressed that there would be no further extension after September 30.

At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers dating from 2021 that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” status on the board’s records.

The board therefore urged all candidates affected by the directive to log into their JAMB profiles and check their admission status through the Central Admissions Processing System.

Candidates who have received admission offers are expected to carefully review the details and select the appropriate acceptance or rejection option.

JAMB’s latest directive is aimed at clearing unresolved admission offers that have remained on its records for several admission cycles.

The board said the exercise would also help ensure that admission records accurately reflect candidates’ decisions and prevent old offers from remaining active indefinitely.

Candidates are advised to complete the process as early as possible rather than waiting until the September 30 deadline.

JAMB reiterated that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period will render the offer invalid.
