The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has explained the meaning of different admission statuses displayed to candidates on its Central Admissions Processing System, particularly “Not Admitted” and “Admission in Progress”.

The clarification comes as institutions continue processing admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session, with candidates checking their JAMB profiles for updates.

JAMB explained that a “Not Admitted” status does not necessarily mean that a candidate has permanently lost the opportunity to gain admission. It may indicate that the candidate has not yet been recommended or processed for admission by the institution.

The board also advised candidates whose status reads “Admission in Progress” to remain patient, as their institutions may still be processing or forwarding their admission details to JAMB for approval.

Candidates were encouraged to regularly check their CAPS profiles rather than relying on information from third parties.

JAMB had earlier urged candidates who receive admission offers to either accept or reject them promptly through the CAPS platform.

Candidates can access their admission status through their JAMB e-Facility accounts by selecting “Admission Status” and then accessing CAPS.

The board has also advised candidates whose names do not appear on the matriculation list to check whether they have accepted their admission on CAPS, printed their original JAMB result slip and admission letter, and confirmed that their institutions have forwarded their verified matriculation details.

Candidates whose institutions have not forwarded the required information have been advised to contact their admission offices to resolve the issue.

JAMB further announced that candidates with outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2026 have until September 30, 2026, to accept or reject them. Offers left unattended after the deadline will be reverted to “Not Admitted” status.
