Israel Military Says Iran Fired Nearly 30 Missiles Since Sunday

Israel says Iran fired nearly 30 missiles since Sunday, triggering retaliation strikes on Iranian facilities, marking first major exchange of fire between both countries since April ceasefire agreement.

An Israeli military official has said Iran launched nearly 30 ballistic missiles toward Israel since Sunday night, marking the first direct exchange of fire between both countries since a truce was announced in April.

The official told journalists on Monday that the Iranian military began firing missiles overnight, adding that Yemen’s Houthi rebels also launched two additional missiles toward Israeli territory.

According to the statement, the missile attacks triggered air raid sirens across large parts of northern and central Israel, with explosions reported over Jerusalem.

In response, Israel said it carried out strikes on several targets at a petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran.

The Israeli military claimed the facility was involved in producing chemical materials used in the manufacture of ballistic missiles targeting Israel.

It said the strikes were aimed at disrupting Iran’s weapons production capabilities, particularly facilities linked to missile development.

The military also confirmed that it targeted Iranian air defence systems during the retaliatory operation.

An Israeli defence official said the Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, had spoken twice with the commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) over the past day to discuss the evolving situation.

The official did not provide further details on the content of the discussions.

The exchange of fire comes amid renewed tensions in the region and is the first major escalation since a ceasefire agreement was reached on April 8 following prolonged hostilities in the Middle East.
