Iraola Satisfied with Liverpool’s Summer Transfer Business

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola says he is happy with the club’s summer transfer business as he prepares to work with the squad assembled for the 2026/27 campaign.

The Reds made several major additions during the transfer window, including France winger Bradley Barcola, who joined from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of up to £124m.

Barcola became Liverpool’s second-most expensive signing and is expected to be available when the club travel to face Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Friday.

Iraola said the signing was a priority for the club and praised Barcola’s attitude after the player made clear his desire to move to Anfield.

“He wanted Liverpool a lot. He just wanted to come here, and I think that’s a good first sign,” Iraola said.

The Spanish coach added that Barcola had trained well with the team and was keen to contribute after winning major honours with PSG.

Iraola also expressed his satisfaction with other summer arrivals, including Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Muñoz, saying the club had chosen players it believed would improve the team.

“The club has decided that those signings that we’ve done are the ones that improved our team, improved our position,” he said.

The manager also dismissed concerns over Cody Gakpo’s future following Barcola’s arrival. Gakpo, who operates on the left wing, was linked with a move away from Anfield during the transfer window.

Iraola described the Dutch forward as a “very valuable player” and indicated that he was pleased to have him remain at Liverpool.

The manager has begun his Liverpool tenure with two Premier League draws and will now look to secure his first league victory when the champions visit Ipswich on Friday.
