Abuja-based quarry company, Stone Rockers Limited, has petitioned President Bola Tinubu and two ministers to investigate the alleged unlawful shutdown of its business premises by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The company, in a fresh petition submitted through the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, alleged that its quarry site in Kuje, Abuja, had been sealed by NSCDC operatives for 13 months without a court order.

The company’s spokesperson, Adeyeye Olugbenga, made the allegation during a protest at the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development in Abuja.

Olugbenga said more than 70 workers and their dependants had suffered hardship following the closure of the company.

He urged Tinubu, Alake and Tunji-Ojo to order an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shutdown and direct the reopening of the company if the action was found to be unlawful.

The company alleged that the Mining Marshall, Attah John Onoja, led more than 20 armed NSCDC personnel to its site in July 2025, where they arrested at least 14 people and took samples of granite.

It said it had written several petitions to the Ministry of Solid Minerals seeking clarification on the closure but had yet to receive justification for the action.

The company also dismissed allegations of land encroachment, insisting that it held a valid quarry lease authorising its operations at the site.

Olugbenga said Stone Rockers had instituted a civil suit against the NSCDC over the closure, but alleged that proceedings had been delayed.

He said the company supported the Federal Government’s efforts to tackle illegal mining and quarrying but opposed what it described as abuse of office and unlawful enforcement practices.

The fresh petition was acknowledged by the ministry, but officials were unavailable to comment on the allegations.
