The Independent National Electoral Commission has unveiled 12 candidates cleared by political parties to contest the 2027 Kwara State governorship election, with the candidates representing different political parties ahead of the Feb. 6, 2027 poll.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has unveiled 12 candidates nominated by political parties to contest the 2027 Kwara State governorship election.
The commission displayed the list of candidates on Saturday as part of its preparations for the Feb. 6, 2027 governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
The exercise is in line with INEC’s electoral timetable, which requires the commission to publish the particulars of candidates submitted by political parties for public scrutiny.
The Kwara governorship election is among the 28 governorship elections scheduled to hold in 2027.
The commission said the publication would enable political parties, candidates and members of the public to verify the information submitted by the candidates.
The 2027 governorship election will determine the successor to Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose tenure expires in 2027.
INEC is also expected to display candidates for the State House of Assembly elections across the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State.
The commission said the publication of the lists was part of measures to ensure transparency in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
