INEC Assures Ondo Voters of Free, Fair 2027 Elections
INEC has assured Nigerians that it is taking practical steps to deliver free, fair, inclusive and credible elections in 2027.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that it is taking practical measures to ensure that the 2027 general elections are free, fair, inclusive and credible.
The commission gave the assurance in Ondo State as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections, with officials reiterating the importance of public confidence in the electoral process.
INEC’s Head of the Voter Education and Publicity Department in Ondo State, Ogunseye Olayinka, said the commission remained committed to conducting elections in which the votes lawfully cast by citizens would determine the outcome.
He urged voters, political parties, candidates and other stakeholders to familiarise themselves with the electoral timetable and relevant provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The commission said its preparations include voter education, stakeholder engagement and measures aimed at ensuring transparency throughout the electoral process.
INEC has also urged political actors to adhere to electoral laws and guidelines, while encouraging citizens to participate peacefully and responsibly in the elections.
The commission said the credibility of the electoral process depended not only on its own preparations but also on the conduct of political parties, candidates, security agencies and voters.
It therefore called on all stakeholders to support efforts aimed at strengthening democratic participation and ensuring that eligible voters are able to exercise their franchise without intimidation or interference.
INEC reaffirmed that it would continue to work with stakeholders as preparations for the 2027 general elections progress.
