Yoruba Nation activist and founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has pledged to sustain the fight against criminal elements across the South-West.

Igboho made the declaration during the launch of the Iru Ekun Security Network in Akure, Ondo State, according to a statement from his media office.

He said the reduction in kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes in parts of Yorubaland was partly due to the tactical support provided to Iru Ekun by the police, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services and other security agencies.

Igboho said the activities of suspected rogue herders, bandits and kidnappers had reduced in communities previously affected by insecurity since the network began operating with the backing of security agencies.

He maintained that the organisation would not relent in its efforts until forests, highways and farming communities across the South-West became safer for residents.

“We are not backing down or relenting until we make the South West forests, highways and agrarian communities safe for all,” he said.

Igboho also called for continued support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying effective security was essential to the development of the South-West and other parts of the country.

He stressed the need for cooperation between community-based security initiatives and established security agencies in tackling criminality.

The activist’s latest declaration follows his earlier pledge to work with the police, military, DSS, NSCDC and other relevant agencies to combat kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes in the region.

He also reiterated that his security campaign was focused on criminal elements rather than any ethnic group.
