The situation, the expert said, could lead to delayed treatment, disease progression and poorer health outcomes.

The expert called for stronger health insurance coverage and other interventions to reduce the financial burden of cancer care.

Stakeholders were also urged to improve access to affordable cancer services and strengthen support for patients who cannot afford treatment.

The expert said addressing the cost of care was essential to improving cancer outcomes and preventing patients from abandoning potentially life-saving treatment.
