Harry Kane Considers NFL Kicking Alongside Future MLS Career

England captain Harry Kane has revealed that he is considering pursuing a career as an NFL kicker while also exploring the possibility of playing in Major League Soccer later in his football career.

The Bayern Munich striker, who has long expressed an interest in American football, said he could potentially combine playing in MLS with kicking in the NFL because the two sporting calendars could allow him to participate in both.

Kane said the idea is something he has discussed seriously, although he stressed that any move into American football remains several years away.

The England international explained that he expects to continue playing football at the highest level for the next five or six years before considering a transition into another sport.

Kane believes his experience as a penalty taker could provide a useful foundation for an NFL kicking career. He said the technique involved in striking a football and the ability to perform under pressure could help him make the transition.

However, he acknowledged that becoming an NFL kicker would require significant preparation and training.

Kane said he would likely dedicate between six months and a year to learning the specialist skills required before attempting to compete professionally.

The striker has previously spoken about his interest in the NFL and has attended games in the United States. He has also maintained a strong interest in golf and other sports outside football.

A move into the NFL would represent a significant career change, but Kane pointed to the possibility of managing both sports if he eventually moves to the United States.

He said playing in MLS could provide a way to continue his football career while allowing him to pursue his interest in American football during another part of the year.

Kane’s comments come as he continues his career with Bayern Munich, having joined the German club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

The England captain has established himself as one of Europe’s leading goalscorers since moving to Germany and remains focused on football for the foreseeable future.
