Haaland Keeps Manchester City Perfect Against Coventry
Erling Haaland scored the only goal as Manchester City edged Coventry City 1-0 to maintain their perfect Premier League start under Enzo Maresca.
Manchester City maintained their 100 per cent Premier League record with a narrow 1-0 victory over Coventry City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Haaland headed City in front in the 26th minute after Enzo Fernandez released Antoine Semenyo, whose cross was met by the Norwegian striker.
The goal was Haaland’s 300th in top-flight club football, reached in his 368th appearance.
Coventry, however, created several opportunities to equalise. Taiwo Awoniyi fired wide when clean through, while Gianluigi Donnarumma made important saves to deny Jack Rudoni and Ellis Simms.
Fernandez, who joined City from Chelsea for £125 million on deadline day, made his debut after replacing the injured Nico O’Reilly in the starting line-up.
The victory gives City nine points from their opening three matches, while newly promoted Coventry remain without a point or a goal since returning to the Premier League.
