Haaland Celebrates 300th Club Goal After Coventry Win
Haaland reaches 300 club goals as Manchester City maintain perfect Premier League start with victory over Coventry City.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland celebrated reaching 300 club goals after scoring the winner against Coventry City.
The Norway international reached the landmark during City’s 1-0 Premier League victory at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, marking another milestone in his remarkable career.
Haaland struck in the 26th minute, heading Antoine Semenyo’s cross beyond Coventry goalkeeper Carl Rushworth. The goal, his third of the league season, proved enough to give City their third consecutive victory and preserve their perfect start.
The 26-year-old reached 300 club goals in just 368 appearances, highlighting the extraordinary scoring rate that has defined his career. His tally includes goals for Molde, Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.
Haaland has scored 165 goals for Manchester City, after scoring 86 times for Borussia Dortmund, 29 times for Salzburg and 20 times for Molde.
The latest landmark came during a match in which City were made to work harder than expected by newly promoted Coventry. Although the hosts controlled possession and created several opportunities, Frank Lampard’s visitors defended with discipline and threatened on the counterattack.
Coventry had chances to equalise, with Gianluigi Donnarumma making important saves to protect City’s advantage. Jack Rudoni and Ellis Simms tested the Italian goalkeeper, while Taiwo Awoniyi also missed a promising one-on-one opportunity.
City held on for their third league win from three matches, moving temporarily to the top of the table with nine points.
The match also featured the Manchester City debut of Enzo Fernandez, who was brought into the starting lineup after Nico O’Reilly suffered a back problem during the warm-up. Fernandez played a key role in the goal, supplying the pass that released Semenyo before the forward delivered the decisive cross.
Iliman Ndiaye also made his City debut after joining during summer.
Despite the victory, manager Enzo Maresca acknowledged that his team had to endure difficult moments, particularly late as Coventry pushed for an equaliser.
For Haaland, however, the afternoon belonged to another historic achievement. His 300th club goal provided the decisive contribution as City maintained their winning start this season and demonstrated once again the Norwegian’s extraordinary finishing ability.
