Gwarzo Condemns Killing of Kano Political Commentator
Kano NDC governorship candidate Aminu Gwarzo has condemned the killing of political commentator Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu and called for a thorough investigation.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has condemned the killing of political commentator Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu.
Dan Shagamu, a popular Kano-based social media commentator and government critic, was reportedly found dead at his residence amid growing concerns over attacks targeting political commentators in the state.
Gwarzo described the killing as disturbing and called on security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
The NDC candidate urged authorities to strengthen efforts to protect citizens and ensure that political differences or public criticism do not expose individuals to violence.
Gwarzo, a former Deputy Governor of Kano State, is the NDC's candidate for the 2027 governorship election. He emerged as the party's flagbearer after being unveiled by former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in May.
The killing of Dan Shagamu has also drawn wider concern in Kano, with calls for a credible investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Gwarzo urged residents to remain calm and allow security agencies to conduct their investigation, while stressing the need for the protection of lives and the preservation of peace in the state.
