Group Backs Atiku on Subsidy Reversal, NELFUND Cancellation
The Atiku Nioo Campaign Organisation has backed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s call for the reversal of fuel subsidy removal and cancellation of NELFUND.
The Atiku Nioo Campaign Organisation has backed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s call for the reversal of fuel subsidy removal and cancellation of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
The group said the removal of fuel subsidy and introduction of student loans had worsened economic hardship for Nigerians, particularly low-income households and students.
It argued that the policies had increased the cost of living while placing additional financial pressure on families struggling to meet educational expenses.
The organisation therefore supported Atiku’s position that the Federal Government should reconsider the policies as part of broader measures to ease economic hardship.
It also backed the call for the cancellation of NELFUND, arguing that access to education should not become a source of long-term financial burden for Nigerian students.
The group said the government should instead pursue policies that expand access to affordable education while addressing the wider economic pressures affecting households.
It urged Nigerians to examine the impact of current economic policies and support political alternatives offering what it described as more people-centred solutions.
