Fulham Consider New Bassey Deal Amid Inter Milan Interest
Fulham are considering a new contract for Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey as they seek to retain him amid reported interest from Inter Milan.
Fulham are considering offering Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey a new contract as they seek to secure his long-term future amid reported interest from Italian giants Inter Milan.
The 26-year-old joined Fulham from Ajax in 2023 and has established himself as an important member of the Premier League side, making 105 appearances across all competitions, with four goals and one assist.
Bassey was named Fulham’s Player of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign and has continued to play a prominent role under new head coach Álvaro Arbeloa.
The Nigerian defender has also worn the captain’s armband in each of Fulham’s first three league matches this season, highlighting his growing importance to the team.
Bassey’s current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2027, although Fulham have an option to extend the deal by another year.
Despite that option, the club are reportedly considering a fresh long-term agreement that would better reflect his importance to the squad.
Inter Milan are among the clubs monitoring Bassey, with the Serie A side reportedly attracted by his versatility, Premier League experience and ability to operate at both centre-back and left-back.
Bassey is reportedly happy in West London and open to extending his stay at Fulham, giving the club confidence that an agreement could be reached.
Fulham’s interest in retaining the Nigeria international comes as the club look to strengthen their squad and avoid losing a key defensive player while interest from abroad continues.
