Former IGP Adamu Emerges SDP Governorship Candidate In Nasarawa
Former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has emerged as the Social Democratic Party’s candidate for the 2027 Nasarawa governorship election, replacing Musa Adamu Angba.
Former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Nasarawa State for the 2027 general election.
Adamu emerged through a direct primary conducted by the party in Lafia on Saturday and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He replaced Musa Adamu Angba, who withdrew from the governorship race, leaving Adamu as the sole candidate in the substitution primary.
Speaking after his emergence, the former police chief said his decision to contest was informed by his assessment of challenges facing communities across the state, including poor roads, inadequate social amenities and limited access to healthcare.
Adamu promised to prioritise basic infrastructure and healthcare services in both urban and rural communities if elected.
He also described Nasarawa as an agrarian state with vast agricultural potential, pledging to invest in the sector to boost food production and improve residents’ livelihoods.
On the state’s mineral resources, Adamu said his administration would review their exploitation to ensure greater benefits for the people.
He further promised an issue-based campaign, with specific development plans for every ward and local government area.
The SDP presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, described Adamu as a tested leader and urged Nasarawa residents to support the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.
