Former Gombe Commissioner Dumps APC, Backs Pantami

A former Commissioner of the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission, Hon. Muhammad Ismail City, popularly known as Katukan Akko, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

City, who also served as Executive Chairman of Akko Local Government Area, formally declared his support for the PDP governorship aspiration of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, following a meeting at Pantami's office on Saturday.

In a statement issued by Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe on behalf of the Pantamiyya Movement, City explained that his decision followed an assessment of the political landscape in Gombe State and his conviction that the state requires a leader with integrity and administrative competence.

He noted that his background in grassroots administration and electoral management provided him with a clear understanding of the leadership qualities necessary to foster economic prosperity, institutional development, and security across the state.

City highlighted Pantami's previous tenure as Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and as Minister of Communications and Digital Economy as proof of his capacity for strategic leadership and institutional reform.

The former council chairman urged his political associates, stakeholders in Akko Local Government Area, and residents of Gombe State to align with the PDP and support Pantami's gubernatorial ambition ahead of the upcoming election cycle.
