FIFA Unveils New Training Programmes for Club Executives, Players
FIFA has announced the fourth edition of its Diploma in Club Management and the second edition of its Players Executive Programme, with both 18-month programmes scheduled to begin in November 2026. The initiatives are designed to strengthen leadership and management skills among club executives, active and retired players, and coaches.
FIFA has announced new editions of its Diploma in Club Management and Players Executive Programme as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and management capacity across the global football industry.
The fourth edition of the FIFA Diploma in Club Management and the second edition of the FIFA Players Executive Programme will begin in November 2026 and run until April 2028.
The 18-month programmes will bring together club executives, active and retired professional players and coaches, combining online learning with optional in-person sessions, club visits and behind-the-scenes experiences.
FIFA’s Director of Professional Football Relations and Development, Ornella Desirée Bellia, said the initiatives reflected the organisation’s commitment to developing people who play key roles in football.
She said the programmes would provide participants with practical knowledge, opportunities for knowledge-sharing and a global network to help drive the professionalisation and growth of the game.
The FIFA Diploma in Club Management is designed for club executives, as well as former international players and coaches currently working in managerial positions.
Its curriculum covers leadership and management, governance and legal matters, finance, marketing and communication, club operations and stadium management, as well as sporting strategy and youth academies.
Graduates and their clubs will also join the FIFA Club Management Network, which provides opportunities to exchange ideas, knowledge and best practices across the football community.
The Players Executive Programme, meanwhile, targets active and retired professional players and coaches preparing for leadership and executive roles after their playing careers.
The programme focuses on football management, physical and mental well-being, financial planning, personal branding and communication, as well as philanthropy.
FIFA Deputy Chief Member Associations Officer, Gelson Fernandes, said the development of football required strong clubs led by capable administrators, while former players should be encouraged to contribute their experience to the sport beyond their playing careers.
FIFA said participants in previous editions represented 57 nationalities and 155 clubs across 55 countries, with all six confederations represented.
The new editions are expected to further expand FIFA’s efforts to develop football leaders both within clubs and among players and coaches preparing to take up executive responsibilities.
