Ex-Nigeria Squash No. 1 Olubo Completes Transcontinental Adventure

Former Nigerian squash No. 1 Moses Olubo is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday after completing an extraordinary transcontinental adventure on a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle.

Olubo’s remarkable journey has taken him across three continents, beginning in the United States before passing through Canada, Iceland, Scandinavia and Western Europe.

The former squash star then travelled through the Sahara and navigated the challenging Fouta Jallon Highlands before making his way towards Nigeria.

His arrival is expected to be celebrated by friends, sports enthusiasts and supporters at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, where a meet-and-greet has been scheduled for 2pm on Wednesday.

Organisers have described Olubo as a “3-Continent Adventurer”, reflecting the scale of the expedition and the endurance required to complete the journey.

However, his final arrival time in Lagos has been difficult to determine because of challenges encountered while travelling through Ghana.

Olubo reportedly faced difficulties because his motorcycle was not registered under the ECOWAS system, which complicated his movement through the country.

As of Tuesday, he was said to be working to complete his exit from Ghana, with the final journey into Lagos expected to be considerably easier.

The adventure has generated excitement among Olubo’s friends and admirers, who have urged Nigerians, particularly members of the sporting community, to come out and welcome the former squash champion.

The planned reception at the National Stadium will provide an opportunity for sports lovers to reconnect with Olubo and celebrate an expedition that has combined sport, endurance, exploration and adventure across multiple countries and continents.

Olubo’s journey also represents a remarkable personal achievement, having undertaken a demanding motorcycle expedition spanning vast distances and diverse terrains before returning to his home country.
