EPL: Arsenal Edge Hull City 1-0 to Extend Lead at Top
Martin Ødegaard scored a second-half winner as Arsenal defeated Hull City 1-0, moving six points clear at the Premier League summit.
Arsenal strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League table after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hull City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
Captain Martin Ødegaard scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute to give Mikel Arteta’s side all three points and extend their winning run in the league to five matches.
Hull frustrated the hosts for much of the encounter with disciplined defending, while also creating opportunities to threaten Arsenal’s goal.
The visitors nearly took an early lead when John Egan headed narrowly wide from a corner. Elliot Stroud also tested Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, who produced an important save to keep the scores level.
Arsenal struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, with Declan Rice and Kai Havertz failing to convert promising opportunities.
The Gunners also had a penalty appeal overturned following a VAR review after Havertz was pulled inside the box. However, referee Farai Hallam ruled that the German forward had been offside before the incident.
Arsenal increased their attacking pressure after the break, eventually finding the breakthrough through Ødegaard.
The Norwegian midfielder reacted quickest after Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis failed to hold Noni Madueke’s effort, converting the rebound to put the hosts ahead.
Arsenal pushed for a second goal, but Hull continued to defend stubbornly and threatened to equalise before the final whistle.
The victory moved Arsenal six points clear at the top of the Premier League standings, strengthening their position ahead of the international break.
The Gunners also maintained their unbeaten home record in the league this season and recorded their seventh clean sheet in 10 matches.
Arsenal will return to Premier League action against Newcastle United on November 21 before facing Manchester City later in the month.
The result further underlined Arsenal’s title ambitions as they seek to maintain their strong start to the 2026/27 campaign.
