El-Buba Backs Adebayo, Says Nigeria Needs New Political Direction
Prophet Isa El-Buba has endorsed SDP presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo, saying Nigeria needs a new political direction to overcome its development challenges.
Prominent Christian cleric and political mobiliser, Prophet Isa El-Buba, has endorsed the presidential ambition of Social Democratic Party candidate, Adewole Adebayo, declaring that Nigeria needs a new political direction.
El-Buba made his position known at the public presentation of Adebayo’s 2027–2031 presidential blueprint, titled Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity: Governance and Accelerated Development, Blueprint of a New Nigeria.
The cleric said his decision followed his study of Adebayo and the policy document, which he described as offering practical proposals for addressing Nigeria’s major challenges.
He said Nigeria was blessed with abundant human and natural resources but had struggled to organise and deploy them effectively for the benefit of citizens.
El-Buba praised the blueprint’s focus on measurable improvements in security, food, water, energy, healthcare, education, housing, employment, justice and digital access.
He also commended Adebayo’s economic vision of moving Nigeria from dependency towards self-reliance and sustainable prosperity.
The cleric expressed confidence in Adebayo’s running mate, Professor Abduljalil Tafawa Balewa Bugaje, whom he said he had worked closely with and considered capable of contributing to the country’s leadership.
El-Buba, who was involved in political mobilisation ahead of the 2023 elections through the Coalition for Better and Brighter Nigeria, said he would begin mobilising his network for Adebayo, starting from Kano and extending to the North-Central states.
He urged Adebayo’s supporters to mobilise at least 100 people each within their communities and networks, saying coordinated grassroots mobilisation could strengthen the SDP’s chances in the 2027 presidential election.
El-Buba said the current political moment required action rather than speeches, urging Nigerians to become actively involved in efforts to change the country’s political direction.
