EFCC’s Convictions, Recoveries Justify My Confidence — Tinubu
Tinubu says the EFCC’s convictions and asset recoveries demonstrate progress in Nigeria’s fight against corruption.
President Bola Tinubu has said the convictions secured and assets recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission demonstrate that his confidence in the anti-graft agency is justified.
Tinubu made the remark while commending the EFCC for its efforts in combating financial crimes and strengthening Nigeria’s anti-corruption campaign.
The President said the commission’s recent achievements showed that the government’s support for the agency was producing measurable results.
He noted that the fight against corruption requires strong institutions, effective enforcement and sustained commitment from relevant government agencies.
Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the EFCC and other institutions responsible for preventing and prosecuting financial crimes.
According to the President, successful prosecutions and recovery of proceeds linked to financial crimes are important not only for holding offenders accountable but also for protecting public resources.
He urged the EFCC to maintain professionalism and ensure that investigations and prosecutions are conducted in accordance with the law.
The President’s comments come amid continued efforts by the Federal Government to tackle corruption, money laundering, fraud and other financial crimes.
The EFCC has in recent years intensified investigations and prosecutions involving individuals and organisations accused of financial offences, while also pursuing the recovery of assets linked to suspected illicit activities.
Tinubu said the commission must continue building public confidence by delivering results and operating within the framework of the law.
He also encouraged other government institutions to support the anti-corruption drive and ensure that public resources are protected for the benefit of Nigerians.
