EFCC Recovers N1.233tn, Secures 10,872 Convictions in 34 Months
The EFCC says it recovered N1.233 trillion and secured 10,872 convictions between October 2023 and July 2026 under Chairman Ola Olukoyede.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it recovered N1.233 trillion and secured 10,872 convictions during the 34 months of Ola Olukoyede’s tenure as chairman.
The commission disclosed the figures in a video published on its official X account on Thursday, highlighting its activities between October 1, 2023 and July 31, 2026.
According to the EFCC, it received 49,673 petitions during the period, investigated 39,615 cases and filed 14,476 cases in court, resulting in 10,872 convictions.
The commission said the figures reflected its efforts to tackle various forms of financial crimes, including advance fee fraud, cybercrime, money laundering, bank fraud and economic governance fraud.
The EFCC said each recovery represented an investigation, financial trail uncovered and public resources recovered in its efforts to combat economic and financial crimes.
It added that its work involved converting petitions into investigations, investigations into prosecutions and prosecutions into convictions, while ensuring that recovered funds were returned to the public interest or rightful beneficiaries.
“The work continues,” the commission said in concluding the video.
