Doma United will face a stern test of their perfect start to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season when they visit Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.

The Gombe-based side have collected maximum points from their opening three matches following their return to top-flight football and will aim to extend their winning run against the hosts.

Kano Pillars, led by Daniel Ogunmodede, will be seeking to halt Doma United’s impressive beginning to the campaign as the teams meet on matchday four.

Rivers United and Shooting Stars will also return to domestic league action after their respective exits from CAF competitions.

Rivers United were eliminated from the CAF Champions League preliminary rounds by Côte d’Ivoire’s San Pedro on the away-goals rule, while Shooting Stars lost 2-1 on aggregate to Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien.

Shooting Stars face Plateau United in Jos, where the Oluyole Warriors have not won in their last eight visits. Rivers United, meanwhile, travel to face Nasarawa United, against whom they have struggled on previous visits.

Rivers United have won both of their league matches this season, although both victories came at home. The Port Harcourt-based side will be looking to improve their away record, having suffered seven consecutive defeats on the road.

Elsewhere, Sporting Lagos will host Abia Warriors at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium following their 3-0 victory over city rivals Inter Lagos.

Abia Warriors are still searching for their first win of the campaign after recording one defeat and two draws from their opening three matches. Sporting Lagos defeated the Umuahia-based side 4-2 in their previous meeting at the venue.

Enyimba will also seek their first victory of the season when they welcome Inter Lagos to Aba.

The nine-time NPFL champions have struggled at the beginning of the campaign, while Inter Lagos have lost all three of their opening matches since making their debut in the top flight.

The matchday four fixtures are expected to provide further movement at both ends of the NPFL table as clubs continue their pursuit of points.
