Delta APC Primary: ‘I Defeated Okowa, There’s Evidence’ — Ned Nwoko

Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary in Delta North, insisting that he won the election and alleging that the process was manipulated.

Nwoko made the claim during an interview on Arise News while reacting to the emergence of former Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, as the APC candidate for the district ahead of the 2027 elections.

The lawmaker alleged that the results announced by the party did not reflect the actual voting outcome across the district’s wards.

According to him, the primaries were conducted in all 98 wards in Delta North and he has evidence to prove that he secured victory.

“The APC primaries for Delta North were conducted across 98 wards. I possess video evidence from each ward demonstrating that I won the election, and I intend to present it to the party,” Nwoko stated.

He further claimed that midway into the exercise, aspirants and their supporters were informed that ward-level results would not be announced immediately, as the final declaration would come from the party’s national leadership.

Nwoko said his camp expected the APC to follow due process and transparency in collating and announcing the results.

However, he alleged that the process changed unexpectedly.

“We were led to believe that the results would be revealed at the national level, and we expected the party to adhere to proper procedures,” he said.

“Instead, we were abruptly given a result from a single ward that is closely associated with the former governor, and this result was utilized as the basis for declaring the winner.”

The senator also accused the Delta State government of interfering in the primary election in favour of Okowa.

“The governor of Delta State is colluding with Senator Okowa,” he alleged.

The controversy adds to the growing disputes trailing the APC primaries across several states, where aspirants have raised concerns over alleged irregularities, imposition of candidates and lack of transparency in the conduct of the exercises.

At the time of filing this report, neither Senator Okowa nor the Delta State Government had officially responded to Nwoko’s allegations.
