Dangote Plans to List All Group Businesses
Aliko Dangote said every company operated by the Dangote Group will eventually be listed on the stock market to widen public ownership and create wealth.
President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has disclosed plans to list all companies operated by the conglomerate on the stock market, saying the move will give more people an opportunity to own stakes in its businesses.
Dangote made this known during an interview with Al Jazeera uploaded on Monday while discussing the ongoing initial public offering of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.
He said the refinery’s IPO was not primarily intended to raise funds but to create wealth by allowing ordinary Nigerians to participate in the ownership of the business.
According to him, the initiative was designed to give people, including workers and members of the public, an opportunity to invest in a business that had already been developed.
Dangote said the group planned to extend the public ownership model to all its businesses, including its fertiliser operations and smaller companies.
He said the group was expected to become the world’s largest urea producer by 2028 and added that every company operated by the group would eventually be listed.
The businessman said the planned listings would also strengthen corporate governance within the group by introducing broader public ownership and greater accountability.
He said the strategy would enable people across Africa to participate in the ownership of Dangote Group businesses and could help transform the Nigerian capital market.
Dangote also disclosed that the refinery was expanding its petrochemical operations, including plans to produce 400,000 tonnes of linear alkyl benzene, a raw material used in the manufacture of detergents.
On the refinery’s financial performance, he said investors would have access to the company’s nine-month financial figures before the IPO closes on October 10.
Dangote explained that the refinery underwent planned maintenance in January and February, which affected its operations during the period, but said subsequent financial results would reflect improved performance.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s IPO opened on September 14, offering 4.1 billion ordinary shares at ₦525 per share, with the offer scheduled to close on October 13, 2026.
