Customs, Delta Ports Strengthen Ties to Improve Operations
The Nigeria Customs Service’s Edo/Delta Area Command has called for closer collaboration with Delta Ports in Warri to improve communication, operational efficiency, safety and service delivery.
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Edo/Delta Area Command, has called for stronger collaboration with Delta Ports in Warri to enhance operational efficiency and improve service delivery.
The new Customs Area Controller, Mr Dooyum Dominic Ortsen, made the call on Thursday when he led members of his management team on a courtesy visit to the Ports Manager of Delta Ports, Warri, Mr Saadi Dahiru Mohammed.
The visit was aimed at strengthening institutional relations, improving communication and reinforcing cooperation between the two organisations.
The Command’s Public Relations Office said the meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss areas of common interest and explore ways to improve cooperation in support of efficient port operations.
An Assistant Superintendent of Customs in the command’s Public Relations Office, Mr Peters Josu, said the importance of cordial working relationships, regular communication and mutual cooperation was emphasised during the engagement.
He explained that although the two organisations had different responsibilities, effective collaboration was essential to achieving shared objectives, particularly in promoting operational efficiency, safety and professionalism within the port environment.
The discussions also highlighted the need for sustained dialogue and engagement with relevant stakeholders to address operational challenges, strengthen working relationships and ensure the smooth conduct of activities at the port.
According to the command, the engagement reflected both organisations’ commitment to building sustainable partnerships and maintaining positive institutional relations.
The two sides expressed optimism that continued cooperation would create opportunities for improved service delivery and more efficient port operations.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to regular engagement, open communication and joint efforts towards achieving their shared objectives.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation among institutions operating within Nigeria’s maritime sector, where efficient port operations are important for trade facilitation, revenue generation and economic activity.
