Cubana Chief Priest Breaks Silence After Losing APC Reps Ticket in Imo
Celebrity businessman and socialite Cubana Chief Priest has reacted after losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the House of Representatives seat representing the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, reportedly dismissed claims that he was disappointed by the outcome of the primary election, insisting that politics remains a process and that he remains committed to supporting the APC.
The nightlife entrepreneur and Imo State coordinator of the City Boy Movement had entered the race months earlier, describing his political ambition as part of efforts to promote youth empowerment and grassroots development in the constituency.
Reports indicated that the APC primary election was eventually won by the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, ending Cubana Chief Priest’s bid to secure the party’s ticket for the 2027 elections.
Following the outcome, reactions flooded social media, with supporters encouraging him to remain active in politics while critics argued that electoral politics requires deeper grassroots structures and political experience.
In response to the development, supporters and political associates reportedly urged the celebrity businessman not to give up on his political aspirations, noting that many successful politicians experienced setbacks before eventually winning elections.
Political observers say the development highlights the growing involvement of entertainers, influencers, and businessmen in Nigerian politics ahead of the 2027 elections, especially among younger political support groups.
