Court Orders INEC to Recognise NDC Logo, Dickson Says

Former Bayelsa Governor Seriake Dickson says a court has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise and use the National Democratic Congress logo in the conduct of elections.

Dickson disclosed this while reacting to developments surrounding the party and its registration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said the ruling affirmed the legal status of the NDC and provided clarity on the party’s identity and logo.

The former governor urged party members and supporters to remain focused on preparations for the 2027 elections, saying the development had strengthened the party’s position.

He also called for respect for the judiciary and the rule of law in resolving disputes concerning political parties and electoral processes.

The development comes amid disputes over the NDC’s leadership and identity, with different parties involved in legal proceedings concerning the party.

The NDC is among the political parties positioning itself ahead of the 2027 elections, with Peter Obi serving as its presidential candidate.

Recent reports have also clarified that the court proceedings did not order the deregistration of the NDC by INEC, which remains a registered political party.
