Court Awards Kim Kardashian €1 Over $6m Paris Robbery
A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian a symbolic €1 over the 2016 armed robbery in which jewellery worth more than $6m was stolen.
A Paris court has awarded reality television star Kim Kardashian €1 in damages over the armed robbery she suffered in the French capital in 2016.
The symbolic amount was the compensation Kardashian had requested in connection with the robbery, during which thieves entered her hotel suite, restrained her and stole jewellery worth more than $6 million.
The incident occurred on October 2, 2016, during Paris Fashion Week, when Kardashian was staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès.
Two members of the robbery gang, disguised as police officers, forced their way into her suite and held her at gunpoint before tying her hands with zip ties and tape.
Among the stolen items was a diamond engagement ring valued at about $4 million, which Kardashian had worn earlier that evening to a Givenchy fashion show.
Most of the stolen jewellery has never been recovered.
The court’s decision came after eight people were convicted in 2025 for their roles in the robbery. The suspects, several of whom were in their 60s and 70s, became known in France as the “Grandpa Robbers.”
Kardashian had previously testified about the emotional impact of the incident, describing it as the most terrifying experience of her life.
Following the latest ruling, Kardashian and her stylist, Simone Harouche, who was also present during the robbery, expressed gratitude to the French justice system.
Harouche was also awarded €1, matching the symbolic amount she had requested.
The court awarded €109,516 to a former receptionist at the hotel who said he suffered trauma from the robbery. The hotel itself was awarded €50,000.
The receptionist had initially sought €550,000 in damages and interest.
Kardashian had made clear that her claim was not primarily about financial compensation but about accountability and recognition for what happened.
During the 2025 trial, she told the alleged mastermind, Aomar Aït Khedache, that she forgave him, while making clear that forgiveness did not erase the trauma caused by the incident.
Khedache was sentenced to three years in prison, while seven others were also convicted for their involvement in the case.
However, none of those convicted returned to prison because they had already spent time in pre-trial detention.
The latest ruling brings another legal chapter to a case that has remained significant in Kardashian’s public life for almost a decade.
