Container Truck Crashes into Vehicles on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
A 40-foot container truck suffered brake failure and crashed into vehicles and road barriers at Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, causing a major traffic backlog.
A 40-foot container-laden truck has crashed into demarcation blocks and other vehicles at the exit of Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after reportedly suffering brake failure.
The incident was disclosed on Tuesday by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, which said the crash had caused a significant traffic backlog extending to New Garage.
LASTMA said recovery and evacuation operations had commenced to remove the damaged vehicles and clear the obstruction from the road.
The agency also reported another crash on Kara Bridge, inward Mowe, where a loaded trailer reportedly collided with a Sports Utility Vehicle.
Officers and police personnel were deployed to both scenes to manage traffic, assist with the recovery operations and facilitate the movement of affected vehicles.
LASTMA appealed to motorists using the route to remain patient while the clearance operations continued.
It assured road users that all available resources were being deployed to remove the impediments and restore normal traffic flow along the busy expressway.
