Chrisland Varsity Hails UI’s Appointment Of Falaye As Emeritus Professor

Chrisland University, Abeokuta, has congratulated Professor Augustine Eyiwunmi Falaye, a member of its Governing Council, on his appointment as an Emeritus Professor by the University of Ibadan.

The university described the honour as a significant recognition of Falaye’s decades of scholarship, service and contribution to education.

Falaye, a Professor of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, joined the University of Ibadan as an Assistant Lecturer in 1983 and rose through the academic ranks before becoming a professor in 1997.

His academic expertise includes aquaculture, fisheries management, fish nutrition and sustainable aquatic environmental development. He has contributed to research, teaching, mentorship and institutional development in aquatic resources and environmental sustainability.

Chrisland University said the conferment was particularly meaningful because Falaye continues to contribute his knowledge and experience to the institution as a member of its Governing Council.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oyedunni Arulogun, described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Falaye’s long years of impactful scholarship and service.

Arulogun said Falaye’s elevation to Emeritus Professor status represented not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride for Chrisland University and the wider academic community.

She also highlighted his contributions to the university’s governance and strategic direction, noting that his experience and knowledge continued to add value to institutional decision-making.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated Falaye and expressed appreciation for his continued commitment to the growth and development of Chrisland University.

She wished him many more years of productive scholarship, mentorship and service to humanity.

The recognition further underscores Falaye’s longstanding association with the institution, where he began his academic career.

An Emeritus Professorship is generally conferred on distinguished academics whose careers have demonstrated sustained contributions to scholarship, education and institutional service.

For Chrisland University, Falaye’s appointment provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of a senior academic who continues to participate in university governance while maintaining a commitment to education.

The institution said his continued involvement remains valuable as it pursues academic excellence, effective governance and broader contributions to national development.

Falaye’s recognition also highlights the enduring impact of academic careers built around research, teaching, mentorship and service across generations of scholars.
