Chelsea Tie Joao Pedro Down to Long-Term Deal Until 2032
Chelsea have extended Joao Pedro’s contract until 2032 after his impressive debut season, in which he scored 20 goals.
Chelsea have secured the long-term future of striker Joao Pedro after the Brazilian signed a new contract with the club.
The 24-year-old has committed his future to the Blues until 2032, with the agreement also including an option for a further two years.
Joao Pedro joined Chelsea from Brighton for £60 million ($82 million) last year and enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, scoring 20 goals across competitions.
The striker expressed his delight at extending his stay at Stamford Bridge, saying he had always dreamed of playing for a major club.
“I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea,” Joao Pedro said.
“I always dreamed of playing for a big club, and it means a lot to me to give my long-term commitment to this club.”
He also praised the atmosphere at Chelsea, saying he had quickly settled into life in London.
The new agreement comes amid reported interest from Barcelona, with Chelsea keen to make it clear that the Brazilian remains an important part of their long-term plans.
Joao Pedro was surprisingly left out of Brazil’s squad for this year’s World Cup despite his impressive season at club level.
Chelsea, now managed by Xabi Alonso, will begin their Premier League campaign away to London rivals Fulham on Monday.
